Claude Moore Charitable Foundation Contribution for Renovations

We are extremely grateful and excited to announce that Claude Moore Charitable Foundation has committed $500,000 to assist Loudoun Free Clinic with upcoming renovations and expansion of our current clinic space.

“It is an extraordinary gift that will enable us to take the clinic to a higher level, allow us to serve more people in need and provide an enhanced environment so we can continue to be a leader in providing primary care to the County’s most vulnerable,” stated Executive Director Maribeth Sheehan.

Loudoun Free Clinic has experienced rapid enrollment of new patients since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020 - approximately a 40% increase in patients served. We are currently serving 1,100 low-income uninsured patients, and the demand for our services has continued throughout 2021.

“The Loudoun Free Clinic fills a critical healthcare need in the county,” stated Dr. William A. Hazel Jr., the foundation’s senior deputy executive director. “They provide much needed healthcare to county residents and the foundation is pleased to provide funding so they can not only continue their good work but also increase the number of residents served.”

This renovation project will upgrade and increase the number of exam rooms, provide renovated lab space and a larger waiting room to allow for social distancing. Sheehan says the partnership with Claude Moore has a far-reaching impact for the clinic.

“In addition to this gift, over the last year the foundation has truly been a guiding light that, through its leadership, has enabled us to navigate the many issues we have faced throughout the pandemic,” she said.

Loudoun Free Clinic was founded in 1998, and provides healthcare services to adult residents of Loudoun County with no health insurance or Medicaid eligibility. We have been funded entirely by grants and donations. For more information, visit our website at :
